Every business has a target audience. How we market to our audience depends on which category they fall under; there are two groups of people we market to:

  1. People we know (Customers)
  2. People we don’t yet know (Prospects)

To succeed with each relationship, it’s important to understand the value of each group: 

People we know (Customers)…

  • Have experience working with our company
  • Are looking for great customer care
  • May be on a one-time or repeat basis with us
  • If repeat, they have expectations that each deliverable will be as good or better than the last
  • Enjoy when we inform and educate them on topics they’re interested in
  • Love it when we help them succeed 

People we don’t yet know (Prospects)…

  • Have a problem or issue that we are qualified to solve/fix
  • Are likely searching the internet for similar services/products that we provide
  • Might find out about us via the internet or through word of mouth
  • May not fully understand how we are different from our competitors
  • May have a misunderstanding or misconception of our product/service
  • May not know we exist
