Shop Local Through eCommerce Stores

Shopping online is a very popular way to buy and sell from the comfort of your home. For the most part, when you buy something online, you expect it to take 10-14 days to reach you or pay a high price for expedited delivery. But businesses, such as Amazon and Ebay are trying to change that. A new type of shopping has arrived; and it promises quick and cheap delivery of products, perishable and nonperishable.

According to a recent article in the Wall Street Journal, Amazon’s newest service, Prime Pantry, “allows members of Amazon’s $99 Prime shipping and streaming video program to fill a single box with household items based on a formula of weight and size, for a delivery fee of $5.99… each Prime Pantry box can hold four cubic feet of merchandise or 45 pounds.” The virtual box fills up while you’re making your purchases, so you can always keep track of how much room you have left.

instacart-ipadInstacart, a business located in 6 U.S. cities, promises to make deliveries from stores such as Whole Foods and Costco within 2 hours of ordering. The delivery fee is a whopping $3.99. Ebay is following suit, now offering same day delivery for $5 when you purchase items from local stores.

Overall, this new way to shop is a very convenient one. If your situation or schedule doesn’t allow for you to physically go out and run errands, you don’t have to worry about high prices or waiting days for purchases to arrive. Happy shopping!
